SAMHSA Awards $3M to Foothold Clients

Three Foothold clients have been awarded federal grants from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) that collectively amount to almost three million dollars. The grant recipients announced by SAMHSA in October 2012 are: The Community Counseling Center of Southern Nevada, Catholic Charities of Santa Clara, and The Postgraduate Center for Mental Health. Each agency supported its proposal with data collected within Foothold’s software for Behavioral Health and Human Service organizations, AWARDS.

The Community Counseling Center of Southern Nevada (CCCSN) will receive $2.5 million in support over the course of the next five years that will enable it to expand its service delivery to individuals and families. Operating from several locations throughout Southern Nevada, the agency faced the challenge of gathering and organizing its data to demonstrate its impact on the community. Notes Kay Velardo, Agency Administrator at CCCSN, “The grade we received in the category of Health Record Management System was “Outstanding,” which is due to us using AWARDS.”

In California, Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County (CCSSC) was awarded $74.5K under a grant focused on expanding care coordination through the use of Health Information Technology. Empowered by AWARDS since 2009, CCSSC is one of a growing number of Catholic Charities in the Foothold Community using data and metrics to improve their delivery of services. Says Jasper De Guzman, Client Information Systems Manager at CCSSC, “AWARDS enables us to gather the reports we need in a fraction of the time it used to take. With a few clicks, we’re able to see everything that’s going on across the agency and identify what’s working and how we can improve.”

Also receiving a grant for its use of an EHR is The Postgraduate Center for Mental Health in New York, which will receive $200,000 to develop its ability to exchange health information securely and confidentially with primary care providers.

Marlowe Greenberg, Foothold’s CEO, states, “We congratulate these agencies and applaud SAMHSA for promoting their use of AWARDS for success in the new system of healthcare delivery. Foothold’s work on interoperability will ensure the secure exchange of health information that characterizes the new system, and as partners with our clients, we are constantly developing AWARDS with their long-term goals in mind. These awards represent success not only for these agencies but for every provider in the Foothold Community as well.”
