We built our software to give agencies the freedom to focus on their mission of improving people’s lives. Every day, we commit to being a true partner in helping agencies care for their communities — through good times and bad.
Over 25 years ago, one of our founders was working as the IT Director of a large behavioral health and residential services agency in New York. Sensing a need for a better way to track and report on their services, he developed a case management system for his agency. Over time, two other agencies joined in and helped expand the software so that it could serve the needs of virtually any human services agency in the country.
Today, Foothold’s team and our software support hundreds of agencies across the nation, in Guam, and in Puerto Rico. With our technology expertise and roots in human services, we continue to empower agencies to focus on their missions.

Our Bobblehead club celebrates members of the team who have spent over a decade at Foothold in pursuit of our common mission; to transform the way we provide care in our communities. Employees who hit the 10-year milestone are presented with their own custom Foothold bobblehead and join the exclusive Bobblehead club!
Marlowe Greenberg, Tom Mitchell and Nick Scharlatt form Foothold Technology to take software developed at Community Access, develop it, and make it available to every human services agency.
Foothold goes from strength to strength as we develop functionality for Medicaid billing, and welcome the first provider from outside New York state into our community.
As the Foothold team grows, our first User Groups are formalized to make it easier for agencies to learn from each other and share best practices.
Building on the success of the User Groups we host our first User’s Conference - bringing our community together in NYC to become better users and share their incredible insights from using the software.
The ‘Footie’ award (now the ‘Nickie’) is introduced to commend Foothold employees who go above and beyond to deliver for our agencies and their colleagues. The trophy design is still debated.
OUTSIDE recognizes Foothold as one of the best places to work in the US citing the company culture, employee perks, volunteer work and our love of sandwiches.
The Impact Prize is launched to celebrate the work of our provider community and recognize those that have achieved remarkable results through innovative use of the software.
Foothold joins forces with Exym and KaleidaCare as part of Alpine Software Group to push the boundaries of what human services software can do.
